Netflix recently announced that they have lost around 600,000 subscribers due to the recent 60% price hike this past quarter. Stock prices for Netflix tumbled 19% when the announcement was heard. Netflix predicted on adding around 400,000 subscribers the past quarter before they set the price hike. They clearly miscalculated and did not see how much of a dramatic effect this would do on retaining current customers and attracting new ones.
Online streaming of movies has changed a lot since Netflix enforced the 60% price increase. Netflix, the main online movie streaming giant, has really helped the streaming business explode. I signed up for Netflix a few years ago and I was an instant fan because of the major movie title selection and the ability to stream and get DVDs by mail at a decent price. The only catch was the pricing, The pricing would go up a dollar or so a month each year I was a member. This final pricing increase was the final straw with my relationship with Netflix however. Netflix started the online streaming revolution but since its introduction, there are many more streaming movie services out there that are cheaper alternatives.

Amazon instant video offers unlimited, instant streaming right to your PC, TV, or mobile device. Amazon is different from Netflix because it offers a pay per title option. There is no subscription fee wich is one of the better benefits and no monthly recurring fees unlike Netflix.
Green cine
Green cine is another option to online movie rentals. The thing that I like best about green cine is that it offers one of the best selections to independent films. I am a major independent film fan and this is the seller for me. Green cine also has a good selection of cult classics, anime, and foreign releases. The only disadvantage to green cine is that there is no online streaming service as of right now. There are over 50,000 movie titles, no late fees, no due dates, and free shipping. Green cine starts at 9.95 a month. They also offer a free trial. I think its worth testing out at least
iTunes
Itunes has the option to stream movies to your PC. They however charge you per title rather than having a monthly subscription like Netflix.
